Each master class course offered at this level is instructor-driven. Students will get to study the Harold and related performance pieces at an advanced level and will receive in-depth personal feedback about their own performance and progress as improvisers.
Same World / Parallel Universe Harolds
This class will perform Harolds where all the scenes exist in the same unusual, weird, and magical world. A Harold in the world of Fairy Tales! Or a Harold in the world of the Post-Apocalypse! The possibilities are endless! Students will learn how to keep scenes grounded and relatable even with a weird backdrop. Students will also learn to play consistently within those worlds without being restricted by plot and superficial references.
Students must be accepted into the Advanced Study Program and to apply for a spot in this class. Students will be selected randomly from all qualified applicants. For more information on Advanced Study, see this page:

Students who have taken 3 or more ASH classes in the past 12 months should not apply for this course. Also, this course will count as one of your three ASH courses for the year.
Achilles Stamatelaky, Teacher
Achilles has been studying and performing improv and sketch at The UCB Theatre for almost a decade. He is a veteran performer of UCB's Harold Night improv show, performing with the groups T.R.U.C.K.S., Whorenado, Penthouse Riot, and Standard Oil.
Currently, he is on the weekend improv team Airwolf, which performs at UCB's East Village theatre every Saturday at 8:30 PM. He was also a founding member of the improv group Hot Lather, which created UCB's popular long-running improvised soap opera As The Diamond Burns.
Achilles is a writer for (212), which performs a brand new sketch show every month at Maude Night, and a writer for the BETA team Scraps, which produces video content for UCBComedy.com and UCB's YouTube Channel. His sketches have been featured on Splitsider, NY Magazine's "Vulture Blog", and Roger Ebert's blog.
He has appeared in other shows at UCB including One Night Stand, The Hogwarts Improvisation Society, and CageMatch among others. He has also created two sold out Harry Potter-themed shows for UCB: Up Late! With Lord Voldemort! (2007) which was featured in The Gothamist and NY Magazine's "Vulture Blog"; and The Kirk Cameron Repertory Players Present: A Harry Potter Musical! (2010 and 2011), which was featured in TimeOut NY, The Huffington Post, and WNYC. He also directed, produced, and wrote for The Heisenberg and Friends Breaking Bad Variety Hour (2013), a sold out Breaking Bad-themed show.
Outside of UCB, Achilles has studied at The Magnet Theater with Armando Diaz and independently with Christina Gausas. Achilles has also worked as a writer's assistant for the Onion News Network and developed a pilot for Sirius Satellite Radio. He has also performed throughout New York City with dozens of independent improv groups.
He has written for YouTube's Official Comedy channel and Plume Publishing's Coloring For Grown-Ups Series. He has appeared in commercials for Nickelodeon and ESPN, various internet videos, and appeared on Comedy Central for The Colbert Report and Broad City.
Achilles is an instructor at the UCB Training Center. He hopes to own a really big TV one day.
