This class will help you foster your individual voice as a writer as you are held to weekly writing deadlines. This class will offer you opportunities to pitch ideas to others and collaborate with other students on assignments in class. You will also get to hone individual pieces through rewriting.

Students must bring a sketch to the FIRST session of class. This sketch should be no longer than four pages. This first sketch should be written utilizing the concept of the "Game of the Scene," taught in Sketch 101. Students should be prepared to devote time outside of class to completing new writing assignments for every session.

The class will end with each student receiving individual feedback from the instructor on their own sketch packet.

Students will be required to see two live sketch shows before the end of the course.

Class Size: 10 Students NO CLASS APRIL 3

Caitlin Bitzegaio, Teacher

Caitlin's writing credits include “The Edge with Jake Sasseville,” a nationally syndicated late-night talk show and “Apartment Red,” a web series produced by Ireland's RTE, ESPN.com pilot “The Leader” and WGBH's “Dot Diva.”

Caitlin Tegart is a writer and sketch teacher who has been studying at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre since 2006. Caitlin wrote two concurrently running shows at the UCB: the sketch show "How Rude: Tim & D'Arcy Find the 90s" and the one-act play "Waiting for Obama: A Night at the Hall of Presidents," in which animatronic presidents come alive to discuss Civil Rights and the Lion King (you know, like they do in real life). The latter show made an epic West Coast journey to UCB Los Angeles and the San Francisco SketchFest.

As a proud alumni of the UCB sketch team Stone Cold Fox, Caitlin wrote for Maude Night (creating a brand new show every month). She currently writes for UCB's weekend sketch show “Beneath Gristedes" and the Beta team Diamonds, Wow! Her web series "Rhonda Casting" can be seen at omgoose.com.

Much like Vivica A. Fox, Caitlin is from Indiana.
