The Movie Taught by Neil Casey and Dyna Moe
This class centers on the improvised longform "the Movie," created by Del Close with the Family. The class will simultaneously learn how to find games in classic and contemporary movie genres and to simulate film making techniques like camera angles and editing on the live stage and on the fly. (To clarify -- NO CAMERAS INVOLVED, the form is performed live on stage only). Students will be expected to watch and discuss at least one movie a week as homework.
This class will perform at the theatre for 4 weeks.
If you are interested in taking this class, send an email to classes@ucbt.net [] with the subject "ASP 5216 The Movie Form", by 12pm on Thursday September 2nd. We will review the applicants and send a notice to those who have been accepted by noon Friday, September 3th.
Prerequisite: Completion of a 501 level Improv Class or Advanced Study Harold class. The ability to attend all 8 classes (and four shows). Do not apply for this course if you can not attend all 8 classes and 4 shows.
Maximum class size is 16.

Neil Casey and Dyna Moe
Neil Casey has been performing at the UCB since 2002 after completing his training in long-form improvisation in 2001. He has studied improv with Armando Diaz, Michael Delaney, Kevin Mullaney, Matt Walsh and Ian Roberts.
Neil has a B.A. in English with a concentration in Drama and a minor in Theatre from the University of Delaware and has studied medieval and classical theater as well as stage directing under Dr. Heinz-Uwe Haus, internationally renowned Brecht scholar and former director of the Deutsches Theater.
Neil has performed regularly at the UCB Theatre in shows including Your Favorite Thing (sketch), The After School Super Power Hour, Instant Cinema, GameFace (sketch), The 4/20 Show (sketch) and Krompf as well as on the weekend house teams Monkeydick and currently Death By Roo Roo each and every Friday Night. He has directed shows at the UCB including Slow Night, Buffoons, Katie Dippold's One-Woman Murder Mystery, That's My Booze, Sidecar Presents: Condiment City and God's Pottery Saves the World.
Neil has appeared in shows for Channel 102, Promos for Comedy Central, and in the upcoming Adult Swim series Fat Guy Stuck in Internet.
Neil has also worked as the one-man IT Department for the UCB Theatre since May of 2006, so if you have any questions about using this site, you can ask him after class.
Dyna Moe was a cast member of the first UCBT movie form group "Feature Feature," directed by Matt Besser, which ran for three years and performed at the main stage of the Chicago Improv Festival. She has taught "The Movie" since 2005 and directed the second UCBT movie form group, "Instant Cinema," for two years (of which Neil Casey was a cast member). She has a degree in film from NYU and currently directs video shorts for SuperDeluxe.com.
