Writing Political/Topical Sketches

Students will practice applying UCB's game philosophy to sketches tackling topical subjects and/or political figures and events. Students will come into the class with pitches gathered from recent events or political figures. We'll beat out ideas off each pitch and the student will leave class with a one-pager and several ideas on the direction/ending of the sketch.

Pre-requisite: Completion of Sketch 101

Zhubin Parang, Teacher

Zhubin Parang is a writer for The Daily Show With Jon Stewart. He has been studying improvisation and sketch at the UCB Theatre since 2005, under teachers including Charlie Todd, Anthony King, Billy Merritt, Shannon O'Neill, Zach Woods and Neil Casey. He currently performs with the UCB Maude team Chunk, and is an alum of Maude teams Thunder Gulch and Charlemagne and Harold teams Raynard and The Bishop.
