Advanced Study Performance: Advanced Performance Workshop
- Advanced Study Harold; Application only
- Wed and Fri 9am-12pm
- Start Date
- Wed July 17, 2013, 9:00am EDT
Form No. 56
Improvisational forms and exercises introduce specific restrictions to performance and within that restriction, the improvisor is forced to make creative choices to execute or even transcend that particular form/exercise. Most forms introduce restrictions to gain a particular result, and many forms are transparent to an audience. This class will explore different imposed restrictions, some purposeful and some arbitrary to create a seemingly random set of restrictions with the desired outcome of a full formed show. The question we will be exploring is whether or not the form itself matters, or if it's simply the struggle against restrictions that makes for interesting performance. We will be performing Form No. 56. We will work co-operatively to figure out what the hell Form No. 56 is.
Students must be accepted into the Advanced Study Program and have completed an Advanced Study Harold or Advanced Study Improv course to apply for a spot in this class. For more information on Advanced Study, see this page: http://newyork.ucbtheatre.com/classes/advanced
