This course introduces students to the long form improvisation structure known as "The Harold," developed by Del Close.

"The Harold" is a series of scenes inspired by a single suggestion that fit together into one cohesive half hour piece. Students learn how to 1) perform openings, 2) create scenes inspired by an opening 3) perform "group games," 4) second and third beats (returning to scenes later in the piece).

Course meets for 8 sessions, each 3 hours long.

Students will take part in a class performance, generally held at the UCB Theatre.

Students required to see at least 2 improvised shows at the UCB Theater before the end of the course.

Class Size: 16 Students

Brandon Scott Jones, Teacher

Brandon performs every Friday at the UCB Theatre with the sketch group Stone Cold Fox. He improvises on the Harold Team Grandma's Ashes and plays venues across the country as a member of the UCB Touring Company. He is also currently appearing in This is Not a Sketch Show: A Sketch Show. Additionally, Brandon co-hosts the weekly comedy/variety show GENTRIFY at the UCBeast.

Other UCB credits include: Waiting for Obama; Oh My God, I Heard You're Dying; Celebrity Funeral, and the Harold Team Robber Baron.

As either an actor or writer, Brandon has worked on various film, TV, and stage projects. He has also appeared in a bunch of online videos for places like UCBComedy, CollegeHumor, LandlineTV, Jest and more. He is a graduate of the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts and the LAByrinth Theatre Company Master Class.

Brandon is a world class daydreamer and is often found daydreaming about being a professional tennis player; the Orioles winning the World Series; traveling the globe in a great suit; and having his very own rustic kitchen.

He would like to thank his family for their incredible support.
