Students will learn the fundamentals of long-form improvisation including: agreement, active listening, playing characters, playing truthfully and to the top of your intelligence and group mind.
Understanding the fundamentals will be achieved through exercises and scene work in class, seeing improv shows at UCB Theatre and reading the UCB Comedy Improvisation Manual.
Students are required to see at least 2 improvised shows at UCB Theatre before the end of the course.
Course meets for 8 sessions, each 3 hours long.
Students will take part in a class performance, generally held at UCB Theatre.

Improv 101 students are required to acquire the Upright Citizens Brigade Comedy Improvisation Manual by class #2. The Manual can be purchased for non-refundable $25 at UCB Theatre, UCB Training Center NY, UCBstore.com or Amazon.com.
Keisha Zollar, Teacher
Keisha Zollar is a performer at the UCB with her improv teams Doppelgänger and Lloyd team HOOPS and hosts the variety show The Soul Glo Project . Ms. Keisha comes to NYC from California where she received a BA in Theatre from UCSD and moved to NYC in 2002 to attend graduate school at The Actors Studio at the New School. Keisha earned her MFA in Acting circa 2005 and began taking classes at UCB circa 2006. In 2010 her improv team Doppelgänger did their thing and won Cagematch 7x.
