Stagecraft for Improv
Description: For most improv sets we have access to just four chairs and ourselves and the stage. Let’s use them! This four week workshop focuses on using our bodies, voices and stage picture to make our improv feel theatrical and alive. Movement, physicality, sound, distance, speed are all tools we’ll explore to create the infinite worlds and characters improv allows. (Wear comfortable clothes and shoes.)
Prerequisite: Completion of Improv 201
Christopher A Scott, teacher
Chris began classes at UCB in 2006 and has been performing with Thank You, Robot since 2007. (TYR has regular shows at Caveat in the LES.) He has appeared on the UCB stage in such shows as The End of the World (dir Will Hines), Wildehorn (dir Eliza Skinner), The Convergence (dir Will Hines & Zack Willis) and poHa (dir James Dwyer). He co-created The Breakup with Nicole Drespel and has developed various new improv forms (Dearly Departed, Bookclub, and Macrohander to name a few).
