The Unusual Thing: Finding the Game in Dramatic Scenes for TV

this workshop, we’ll explore how the basics of long form improvisation
are as useful for dramatic writing as they are for comedy. Centering
your scene on an unusual thing, heightening an idea, using patterns and
more can be used to structure and frame any scene. Come unpack the
slight but crucial differences between dramatic and comedic writing and
learn how to make a TV drama poignant, specific and funny.

Students should have access to a computer and stable, robust internet access, webcam & microphone.

There is work outside of class, preparing sketches for presentation in every class and viewing sketch videos. This online course uses Google Classroom and Google Meet programs to conduct live sessions with your instructor and fellow students.
