Pilot Writing - ONLINE:
|Scheduled||ONLINE Thursdays 6-9pm PT/9pm-12am ET|
|Start Date||Nov 11, 2021, 6:00pm|
|Class Size||8 students|
|Sessions||8 sessions, 3 hours each|
In this course, you will take an idea from a
pitch all the way to a polished draft, getting feedback at each step as
you go through this tough but really rewarding process. We'll talk
about elements of a strong pilot concept, character creation, outline
structure, and how to write dialogue that sounds like it comes from a
human. And we'll do it in a supportive workshop environment where you'll
be giving feedback on other projects as you work on your own.
This class will break down the pilot writing process into easily achieved weekly goals. You will leave with a completed draft that you can build on and use as a sample. If writing a pilot feels overwhelming, this is the class for you.
There is work outside of class, preparing sketches for presentation in every class and viewing sketch videos. This online course uses Google Classroom and Google Meet programs to conduct live sessions with your instructor and fellow students.

Jeff Topolski, teacher
Jeff Topolski is a writer from Fort Collins, Colorado, which was ranked best place to live by Money Magazine in 2006. Despite living in the best city in the country (in 2006, according to Money Magazine), Jeff moved to Orange, California to attend Chapman University, where he also began performing improv. After graduating and moving to LA, he started taking improv and sketch classes at UCB in 2013. Jeff wrote for the UCB Maude team The New Deal and his show "El Pollo Loco High School," starring Lou Wilson and Andrew Hansen, ran for over a year at the theatre. Outside of UCB, Jeff's writing credits include "Brooklyn Nine-Nine." You can catch Jeff directing and writing shows at UCB, or maybe you could catch him on a long weekend visiting his hometown of Fort Collins, which is really great and you should visit (it's not quite as good as it was in 2006, but still... great city).Registration Unavailable
