Students will learn the fundamentals of long-form improvisation including: agreement, active listening, playing characters, playing truthfully and to the top of your intelligence and group mind.

Understanding the fundamentals will be achieved through exercises and scene work in class, seeing improv shows at UCB Theatre and reading the UCB Comedy Improvisation Manual.

Students are required to see at least 2 improvised shows at UCB Theatre before the end of the course.

Course meets for 8 sessions, each 3 hours long.

Students will take part in a class performance, generally held at UCB Theatre.

Improv 101 students are required to acquire the Upright Citizens Brigade Comedy Improvisation Manual by class #2. The Manual can be purchased for non-refundable $25 at UCB Theatre, UCB Training Center NY, or

Monique  Moses Monique Moses is member of Astronomy Club and performs monthly in Let's Talk About Race, Baby! You can also catch her every Saturday night with Airwolf and at Asssssscat! Sunday nights every now and then.
She performs and directs comedy all over New York City, and has been featured in awesome festivals like Steelstacks (Philly), Stumptown Improv Fest (Portland) the Toronto Fringe Fest, DCM, NCAAF and the Charleston Comedy Fest.
Fun fact: Her favorite venue to perform in was The Kennedy Center because 1) it was the biggest, 2) made her mom the proudest and 3) had the most flags.
