Students will learn the fundamentals of long-form improvisation including: agreement, active listening, playing characters, playing truthfully and to the top of your intelligence and group mind.

Understanding the fundamentals will be achieved through exercises and scene work in class, seeing improv shows at UCB Theatre and reading the UCB Comedy Improvisation Manual.

Students are required to see at least 2 improvised shows at UCB Theatre before the end of the course.

Course meets for 8 sessions, each 3 hours long.

Students will take part in a class performance, generally held at UCB Theatre.



Improv 101 students are required to acquire the Upright Citizens Brigade Comedy Improvisation Manual by class #2. The Manual can be purchased for non-refundable $25 at UCB Theatre, UCB Training Center NY, UCBstore.com or Amazon.com.

Liz Noth Liz Noth is an actor and writer based Los Angeles and originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Before moving to LA she was on Harold Night in New York.

Liz has appeared in Amazon's Red Oaks, and The Jim Gaffigan Show, as well as on the web for MTV, Above Average, Cosmo, HuffPo and IFC.
