Students will learn the fundamentals of long-form improvisation including: agreement, active listening, playing characters, playing truthfully and to the top of your intelligence and group mind.

Understanding the fundamentals will be achieved through exercises and scene work in class, seeing improv shows at UCB Theatre and reading the UCB Comedy Improvisation Manual.

Students are required to see at least 2 improvised shows at UCB Theatre before the end of the course.

Course meets for 8 sessions, each 3 hours long.

Students will take part in a class performance, generally held at UCB Theatre.

Improv 101 students are required to acquire the Upright Citizens Brigade Comedy Improvisation Manual by class #2. The Manual can be purchased for non-refundable $25 at UCB Theatre, UCB Training Center NY, or

Corin C Wells, teacher

Corin C Wells Corin is an actor and writer from Philadelphia, PA. She's been studying improv and sketch comedy since 2010 starting out at the Philly Improv Theater where she taught and performed. She continued her education at The Upright Citizens Brigade Training Center where she studied under Keisha Zollar, Doug Moe, Gavin Speiller, Brandon Scott Jones, Brian Faas, Frank Garcia Hejl and Shannon O'Neill. She has appeared in various videos for Above Average and Refinery29. She is SUCH a Sagitarrius/Ophiucus cusp.

You can see Corin performing on Characters Welcome every last Thursday of the Month, with Rumpleteaser every Monday and on GOAT every Saturday night.
