Sketch 101: Sketch Comedy Writing

No prior sketch writing experience is necessary -- the only requirement for this class is a desire to write and learn. Students should have access to a computer and printer and be prepared to work outside of class, preparing sketches for presentation in every class. Students will be required to see two live sketch shows before the end of the course.

Jason Sweeten, teacher
Jason is a writer for Maude Night. He’s currently on Glamour College; he previously wrote for What Would Do and Choir. Jason’s other UCB credits include: The Queerball Sketch Show (writer), Jay Malsky Slept With My Boyfriend (director), and The Swamp: This Month In Politics (writer). His sketches have been featured on Queerty, LGBTQ Nation, and Vulture Comedy, which described his work as, "a perfect mix of the simple and the absurdly complex.” He also penned the quiz “Do You Still Have A Job At BuzzFeed,” which was written up by The New York Times, Splinter, Betches, and more.
